Gerakan Reformasi untuk Menggali dan Mengembangkan Nilai-Nilai Matematika untuk Menggapai Kembali Nilai-nilai Luhur Bangsa Menuju Standar Internasional Pendidikan

Elwyn Thomas mentioned that educational reform can occur by such causes, the social political situation, economic, cultural, and development of science and technology. Socio-political situation of a country will give the hue to the government system and the existing education system. Government policy in developing the curriculum will greatly give color to the teaching practices in schools. Educational reform will be realized if the political reforms the government is capable of generating self-correct, so there is a push for reform in education.
Tilaar stated that the education reform should include, erosion of corruption, collusion and nepotism, implement the principles of professionalism, decentralization of education management and curriculum content, improved quality of basic education and compulsory education of 9 years, improving the quality of public high schools and vocational education, quality improvement and autonomy higher education, the development of alternative education, improving the quality of the teaching profession, financing a democratic education, regulation and legislation, as well as the empowerment of learner subject.
To be able to conduct reforms in education, it is necessary to change the system of learning in schools. Learning system which was originally using traditional learning system is converted into an innovative learning system. Learning system which was originally changed to give priority to the student’s rote learning system that educates students to solve problems or problems associated with life. Learning system which was originally only to the teacher centered learning system which is converted to engage students in learning so that the students become more active and so on.
Mathematic scores can be seen from the context of ontological, epistemological, and axiological within the limits of intrinsic, value, extrinsic, and systemic. Viewed from an ontological context is to find meaning in the deepest roots and foundation of mathematics reality. Viewed from an epistemological context is revealing something with another expression which is more understandable. Viewed from the axiological context is how to study the physiological mature of the value of mathematics.
In the field of education reform, a teacher must know his own personal abilities. Due to determine the ability of her own personal teacher will know the advantages, disadvantages, and weakness in teaching. Teachers can learn the methods or techniques in teaching in order to enhance its ability to run a better learning system.
